In advance of the London Olympic games Thorntask were contracted by London Underground to carry a complete refurbishment of the overbridge at Bromley-by-Bow Station.
The works involved in the replacement of external and internal wall cladding, replacement of the roof, glazing works and painting and decorating works including application of approved colour contrasting paint to the treads and risers on the stairs as required by DDA.
Thorntask were responsible for the management of specialist sub-contractors required for the works including asbestos removal and scaffolding to the external area of the bridge. Works were carried out through a combination of engineering hours and possession working, including working within Network Rail weekend line closures. Thorntask were responsible for the production of all required project documentation and for the provision of all plant, protection staff, labour and materials.
